It is not a place to go and just spend some time… it is not a place that was constructed to just start a business…
Villas Xichu was born. Born? Yes, and this is what our founder and owner (or Mother as she calls herself ) Gloria Belendez-Ramirez has to say:
“We were visiting San Miguel de Allende on a five day holiday; however this magical city enchanted us in such a manner, that we prolonged our stay to four years. While constructing a villa for our own use (La Casa de la Rosa Rosa), I started to be more and more aware of the artistic talents of our Mexican crew. The level of trust and respect grew in such a way that we decided to keep on constructing other villas on our property in order to keep the “family” together…
In mid May 1998, while taking photos of the first construction site I was surprised to see a green-pink spot in what seemed to be a bush amidst the cement. As I approached it, what was my surprise to see that it was a beautiful, aromatic pink rose (rosa rosa), determined to survive regardless of all the debris and mistreatment. I picked it and pressed it in a book, never to forget, how intense the power of life is.
La Casa de la Rosa Rosa was a 50% constructed body that I did not want to demolish because of its history. After one year we moved in, while the construction continued: we added seven additional villas, lush gardens, fountains, three pools and a 2-storey conference center named after my grandmother Victoria.

Gloria came with the idea to holiday with her two young toddlers for a week, and instead she stayed four years, founding what is now Villas XIchu.
In 2008, the magic of this wonderful city along with the nearby city of Atotonilco resulted in their election by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.

About our Founder
Gloria Beléndez Ramírez describes herself as an entrepreneur, writer, speaker, interpreter, mother, wife, lover, dreamer and is completely out of her mind, living in her heart and walking on the path of the NOW.
Gloria was born in Mexico City. She studied her third language in Switzerland in a school for girls. Enjoying intensely communicating with others, she never went back to her home country to live. Instead she wandered around the world learning languages as she enjoyed her life passionately. Her family-oriented personality won her several sets of parents/relatives: Korea, Japan, Germany, Cyprus, Italy, France, Egypt, China, Taiwan and Greece.
At the age of 23, she established Globel Worldwide Interpreting Services in Dusseldorf, Germany, traveling all over the world. She loved her work so much that she described it as “…a school where I am being paid to learn.”
She stopped working as an interpreter when her first child was born, and instead started exploring the world of the soul. In doing so, she arrived on a five day holiday to the town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, only to stay four years instead, enchanted by the mystic, marvelous, magic warmth of this charming colonial town. The result was the birth of Villas Xichu, a warm spiritual retreat open to all.
In 2012 she published her first book “Spiritual Orgasms, vivid encounters in the Now”; since then she has been interviewed on TV and Radio, traveling around the world with her retreats, workshops and corporate trainings. Known as the happiness ambassador, she says her soul purpose is to entice others to decide to be happy and stay happy NO MATTER WHAT.
